It’s that time of year again. Your mailbox and email inbox are about to be inundated with reminders (including from us) that it is time for your annual furnace heating inspection in Chicago. And you are going to ask yourself: do I really need to?
Obviously we’re biased, but our answer would be a resounding yes. Here’s why.
Obviously we’re biased, but our answer would be a resounding yes. Here’s why.
- For your warranty. Many warranties are not valid if your furnace is not properly maintained. So spending a little money for maintenance can protect you from a major expense if something goes wrong during the warranty period.
- For your safety. Your homes furnace emits carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, un-burnt methane, sulfur dioxide and other dangerous gasses. Normally they are emitted outside your home. An inspection will make sure your furnace is indeed emitting them outside.
- For your health. A poorly maintained furnace can also spread virus-causing germs into your house, increasing the chances of catching a cold or the flu.
- For your system’s life and health. An inspection can identify small problems before they become large problems that require a major expenditure or even require the purchase of a new system.
- For your financial health. About 46% of the utility costs for a 3,000 square foot home are for heating and cooling. A tune up will make sure your furnace is running efficiently, keeping your energy costs down.
