While it’s not quite fall yet and we still hopefully will have some great weather, it is also time to prepare for the changing of the seasons. Step one is to have your furnace tuned up. Here are just a few reasons
Your Safety
Your HVAC technician will check for combustion gas leaks. If your furnace does have a combustion gas leak, it can emit dangerous carbon monoxide into the air, which can lead to severe health issues or even death.
Your System’s Life Expectancy
Annual furnace tune ups can extend the life of your system.
Fewer Repairs/Saves Money
The majority of expensive and untimely (when it is freezing out) repair calls could be prevented with routine maintenance. During a maintenance call, your technician will clean the furnace, which will prevent small problems. Your tech can also identify small problems before they become big problems. This of course will also save you money.
Increases Efficiency/Saves Money
The inspection will result in a clean and more efficient system. This increased efficiency will help you cut down on energy costs.
Proper Air Flow
Professional HVAC contractors will check your venting system to make sure it is evenly distributing air throughout your house. Poor air flow puts a strain on your furnace, causing unnecessary repairs and possibly a shorter life span.
Maintains Warranty
Some manufacturer’s warranties will not cover repairs or even replacements if you have not had your furnace maintained annually. The tune up will validate the warranty.
Now that you know the reasons to have your furnace checked, here is what we do when we come out.

Now that you know the reasons to have your furnace checked, here is what we do when we come out.
- Change the air filter.
- Check electrical components, including tightening electrical connections.
- Check amp draw on the inducer fan motor and the furnace blower motor. This ensures the motors are operating within the manufacturer's specifications.
- Test safety controls to make sure the system starts, runs and shuts off properly.
- Test operation of all equipment.
- Check thermostat settings so you can be comfortable when you are home and saving energy when you are not.
- Check for proper airflow
