Efficiency Savings
How Energy Efficiency Ratings Affect Savings
When you purchase energy-efficient heating and cooling systems, you will be able to maintain the same level of temperature control and comfort in your home while keeping your expenses lower. More efficient systems lose less heating and cooling power to leakage, while using less energy to create the same effect. The result is that your monthly utilities bills will be lower. You can save money while limiting your waste.
AFUE (Annual Fuel Utilization Efficiency)
SEER (Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio)
MATCHING YOUR SYSTEM FOR OPTIMUM EFFICIENCY
Depending upon the type of indoor coil or evaporator coil that you are using, different types of heating and cooling systems will run more efficiently. We will work with you to match your system to your coil, which will ensure that your system performs properly and lives up to its SEER and HSPF ratings. This is something you should talk to us about before you switch over your system, to make sure that you are not sabotaging its efficiency.

AFUE (Annual Fuel Utilization Efficiency)
- This is a standard method of measuring the efficiency of different heating units,
such as furnaces powered by gas or oil. - The rating lets the buyer know how much fuel is used as opposed to how much
is wasted. The higher the number, the more efficiently the fuel is utilized. - The minimum required rating is 78 percent, but Carrier provides furnaces that
have ratings of up to 96 percent.
SEER (Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio)
- This ratio measures the efficiency within the cooling process and can be
applied to both air conditioners and heat pumps. - Like AFUE, the higher the number in the rating, the more efficient the unit is
and the less energy it is wasting. - The minimum rating in terms of SEER is 13, but Carrier offers air conditioners
that have SEER ratings all the way up to 20, helping you to save
significantly on your cooling bills.
- This rating measures how efficient the heating mode of a heat pump is, and
the higher the rating, the more efficient the unit. - The minimum rating is 6.8, but Carrier offers heat pumps that go
all the way up to a rating of 9.5, saving you money on your monthly bills.
